How Endurance 4000 Works |
![]() |
The Endurance 4000 architecture separates
compute and I/O functions to allow rapid failure detection, isolation
and handling. System faults are detected and isolated within 200
milliseconds without impacting the running application.
The Compute Elements (CEs) perform all server CPU functions synchronously whilst the I/O Processors (IOPs) perform functions such as disk and network operations. This configuration operates as a single fault tolerant server offering uninterrupted service despite individual component failures. The architecture of the Endurance 4000 system fundamentally improves the stability and reliability of the Windows NT operating system environment. |
|
Fault-tolerance is provided by using redundant CE's, redundant IOPs and Endurance's fault-tolerant software configuration. Each redundant CE/IOP pair can be separated by up to 1.5km providing constant computing even in the event of a site disaster. The system requires minimal management and administration and no modification is required to either Windows NT or user applications. |
